Since it's capitalist norms that eat democratic norms, King understood that his work to strengthen democracy--which requires healthy social relations--would be undermined by the drive for profit in capitalism, which poisons social relations by forcing us into competitive rather than collaborative orientations.

Thanks for the reminder of how incredibly relevant King's work is now, for BIPOC and for the democracy as a whole.
